Why Rosenior will turn to unpopular defensive pair to try to lead Chelsea to unlikely victory against Man City

Liam Rosenior has a huge question in defence tomorrow – and we think we know which way he’s going with it.

Liam Rosenior has had a long time to think about his team selection for tomorrow’s game.

The biggest question mark of all is at the back. We’re confident that Trevoh Chalobah won’t be fit, meaning Rosenior is without the one player he would certainly pick at the back were it possible.

Mamadou Sarr is a player he likes and trusts, but the Frenchman fumbled his big chance against PSG, and it would be bold to throw him in against Man City for another go. Benoit Badiashile has the talent but has shown time and again that he can’t be trusted.

Rosenior’s imperfect pair to face Man City

With all that established, it feels like it’s trending towards a Wesley Fofana, Tosin Adarabioyo pairing tomorrow. The fact that they started against Port Vale last week doesn’t make that less likely – if anything, it was perhaps Rosenior giving them some minutes together in preparation.

It’s a flawed pair without doubt – Tosin has frustrated Chelsea fans massively in the last couple of years, and Fofana has not been good recently. But with Man City likely to go all out in attack, perhaps sitting deep can mitigate some of their flaws.

Enzo Fernandez will be leaving Chelsea this summer, according to Mick Brown.

Liam Rosenior has a big question over how to set up for tomorrow’s game, with a game against Arsenal fresh in his memory.
