New Celtic boss Wilfried Nancy has outlined the qualities and expertise of the coaching staff he has assembled at the club…
Joining Nancy at the Scottish Premiership champions are assistant coach Kwame Ampadu, assistant and fitness coach Jules Gueguen, and video analyst Maxime Chalier.
Speaking via Celtic TV to Gerry McCulloch, Nancy said: “Kwame. I love him. Simple as that, because first of all, he did play football. He had the same background as me, I would say, in terms of academy and professional level as a coach.
“And yes, this is a person that, again, is genuine. He has a feel also for the people. He’s able to connect with people really well. And also something that I like to use as a tool, challenge the players or support them. And Kwame is really good with that. And yes, this is also the oldest guy in my staff. So sometimes he can bring a lot of his wisdom. So for me, this is so important.”
Nancy added: “And after that, we have Jules Gueguen, fitness guy. He has a background also in football. He played a bit, not with the highest level, but he played. And really good to also connect with people, because yes, fitness could be sometimes boring, but I like also the structure, but I like also the creativity within the structure.”
“And Jules is so good also to bring this creativity, because sometimes it could be redundant. Max Challier, video analyst and French guy. And also he has a background as a player. So to connect and to organise things, this is really interesting.”
Stevie Woods or Gavin Strachan will remain part of Nancy’s backroom staff as they were part of the training session today.
It remains unclear whether Shaun Maloney, Mark Fotheringham, Stephen McManus after today’s media conference as no questions were asked on this matter.
Celtic FC withdrew The Celtic Star’s media access to Lennoxtown today at 11.31am just an hour or so before we were scheduled to arrive to attend the media conference, as per the club’s own rota which they issued last summer.
The ban on fan media is the latest troubling development at Celtic FC, and the latest attempt from the Club to target the Collective. We stand by those affected and urge the club to engage with fan media to create a culture of transparency at Celtic.
