Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou faces an uncertain future at N17

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou just cannot escape the media spotlight and the sack rumours. The Australian has come under immense scrutiny for the performances and results in the Premier League. The Lilywhites registered their 21 st league defeat of the season on Friday night at Villa Park. They are now languishing 17th in the table.

Fans will be relieved that there is only one game left in the Premier League this season. It has been a campaign to forget for the North London club and they would like to start fresh in the summer. The Europa League has acted as the saving grace for Ange Postecoglou at N17. That competition is the only reason why the ex-Celtic boss is still at the helm.

Spurs have reached the Europa League final and they have exceeded all the expectations with their run in Europe. Winning the competition would bring an end to the 17-year long wait for a major trophy. The Lilywhites would also ensure a place in the Champions League next season. It is arguably the biggest game in the club’s recent history as they take on Manchester United in the final, a team they have beaten three times this season in all competitions.

Bryan King believes Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou deserves sack compensation

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has certainly run his race at N17. A change is imminent in the dugout after a series of poor results in domestic competitions. It was also reported earlier last week that Daniel Levy would sack the ex-Celtic boss in the summer, regardless of the outcome in the Europa League final.

Now, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King believes Spurs will pay Ange Postecoglou his wages for the remaining years, if they end up sacking the 59-year-old once the season ends. Speaking to Tottenham News, King said,

“Postecoglou is earning around £5m annually. If I were him, and I was being told to leave the club, I’d want my wages for the year, and I’d want my bonus if I’d won the Europa League. Postecoglou has signed a contract, Tottenham also signed that contract, that is what he will be owed.”

The former Spurs scout added,

“However, it is a lot of money considering the job he has done in the Premier League. But Postecoglou will be fully paid. I think he will be removed as manager, and a payment will be made.”

Bryan King suggested that Ange Postecoglou has all the rights to ask Tottenham to cover his owed salary if they end up sacking him. The former Spurs scout insisted that the club will have to adhere to the signed contract and pay Big Ange the deferred wages. King also added that the ex-Celtic boss earns £5m annually and covering that would be a lot of money for Tottenham. But the club would still part ways with Big Ange and offer him a payment.

Daniel Levy has already started looking at managerial replacements for next season. The Lilywhites have shortlisted Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner and Fulham boss Marco Silva to takeover the reigns once Big Ange leaves. However, Ange Postecoglou cannot focus on his future yet as his team still have the Europa League final to play for.
