Christos Tzolis made a very fine start to life at Arsenal after joining the Gunners from Club Brugge in the summer, and he has been one of the top performers in their team so far. The Greek star has been in superb form for some time, although some people doubted whether he could transfer his impressive performances in Belgium to the Premier League.
While fit, Tzolis proved to be the best left winger at the Emirates, ahead of the likes of Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze. If he is available, he will start matches ahead of them, underlining how quickly he has established himself as an important option for Mikel Arteta.
Arsenal continue to do their best to remain competitive while Tzolis is absent, and Arteta has used different players in that role during his time on the sidelines. However, the team has clearly missed his directness, creativity and consistency on the left flank.
The Gunners face Liverpool at the weekend, and as reported by The Sun, Tzolis could return to the matchday squad for that game, although he is not expected to start. Even if he features only briefly, his availability would give Arteta another attacking option at a crucial stage of the season.
Tzolis’s return is a significant boost for Arsenal, even if he may not make a major impact against Liverpool. Having him available for the next few matches would be particularly important as Arteta’s side look to defend the league title.
His presence should ease the burden on Madueke, Eze and the other attacking players who have been asked to cover in his absence. If Tzolis can regain his fitness and form quickly, Arsenal will be better equipped to maintain their challenge and respond strongly after their recent cup disappointment.
