Wolverhampton Wanderers have secured a major boost after striker Jørgen Strand Larsen signed a new five-year contract with the club, which includes an additional 12-month extension. This new deal marks Wolves’ clear faith in Strand Larsen as a central figure in their ambitions going forward.
Strand Larsen’s journey with Wolves began on loan from Celta Vigo in the 2024/25 season. His first season in England was highly successful, with 14 goals, the most for a Wolves player in their debut Premier League season. He was also praised by Alan Shearer following an impressive performance against Ipswich: “He was a nuisance. His hold-up play was excellent and I thought his touch and his control were superb.”
Following that impressive spell, Wolves triggered the option to sign him permanently in the summer transfer window. The 25-year-old Norwegian expressed his delight at signing the new contract:
“I’ve been incredibly happy here at Wolves. Signing a new deal shows that my commitment is here, I’m happy here, I love all my friends and teammates, the fans are amazing, and we just want to make it a better season than last year”.
After fending off interest from Newcastle in the closing days of the summer transfer window, this new deal ties Strand Larsen down for the next five years with the option for a sixth. This commitment underlines both the club and the players’ belief in continuing the progress made. Pereira was also full of praise for the striker:
“If we want to take a step to be on another level, we need players like Larsen, because it’s not only about his tactical and technical ability, it’s about his spirit and personality. He’s very important for us, and it is very, very good news for us”. It is not thought that there is a release clause in the new deal.
Despite his strong performance last season, Strand Larsen has had a slow start to 2025/26, hampered recently by injury. He scored twice in the Carabao Cup against West Ham, but missed the last two games against Everton and Newcastle.
With him back in training, both the club and the fans will be hoping for a return to form and goals.
By locking down Jørgen Strand Larsen to a long-term deal, Wolves have sent a powerful message: they see him as more than just a short-term solution. He remains central to the club’s plans, both in terms of goal scoring and his influence on the squad. For Strand Larsen, this is an opportunity to prove his worth by leading Wolves to a better season. If form and fitness come together, this deal could prove pivotal for both player and club.
