Wolverhampton Wanderers plan to re-integrate Hugo Bueno into their first team squad for the 2025/26 season following an impressive season-long loan at Dutch club Feyenoord. As reported by Express & Star journalist Liam Keen, the 22-year-old has made a positive impact in the Eredivisie and is expected to be assessed closely during pre-season.
Bueno moved to the Netherlands during the summer transfer window in search of regular playing time and has taken the opportunity to showcase his talent during domestic and European competitions this season. He has maintained a constant presence in the side, contributing defensively and offering an attacking outlet from the left flank. Bueno has made 26 appearances, with four assists in all competitions for Feyenoord.
With uncertainty surrounding the futures of both Nélson Semedo and Rayan Aït-Nouri, Wolves could have a ready-made replacement in Bueno. Semedo is in the final year of his contract and has yet to sign a new deal, but Benfica are said to be interested. Aït-Nouri has been of interest to several clubs, including Manchester United, since January. Wolves may see the Spaniard as a cost-effective option to step in or provide depth in a position that may need reinforcing.
Bueno made over 30 senior appearances for Wolves before going out on loan. His development in the Eredivisie has added maturity and European experience to his game. Known for his energy and adaptability, he returns with improved tactical awareness and confidence in possession.
With Wolves expected to undergo changes in the summer, Bueno will likely be given a chance to impress during pre-season. His reintegration could represent innovative squad management, offering a ready-made option who understands the club and is eager to prove himself at Premier League level. During an interview with the Shropshire Star, Bueno said, “Sometimes you need a little bit of a change. I also needed a little bit more confidence in me”. Playing Champions League football may have given him the confidence he needs.
