Chelsea are lucky to still be in this game against Everton, even after just 20 minutes. One pundit has laid into the Blues.
It’s still 0-0 at the Hill Dickinson stadium, but Chelsea are lucky that’s the case.
They made some horrific errors early on and Everton should have punished them. Moises Caicedo, Jorrel Hato, Wesley Fofana and Robert Sanchez have EACH made a mistake which could have led to a goal in the first quarter of the game.
It’s quite incredible to see a performance this poor in a must win game.
“This is wretched stuff from Chelsea. Hato is the latest culprit. The Everton supporters are torn between enjoying this and being frustrated that their side have not punished the visitors,” Sky Sports’ Adam Bate wrote.
“Chelsea have quality at the other end of the pitch, of course. But all the action is happening near their goal at the moment.”
Things have improved since those first 15 minutes, to be fair. Instead of giving the ball away repeatedly in front of our own goal, we’re now able to establish some sterile possession around the halfway line.
Now that’s progress.
Enzo Fernandez’s comments this week have lot a lot of criticism, but some pundits have defended him.
It’s all lined up perfectly for Chelsea to gain points on Liverpool and Manchester United with a win today – but does anyone have faith that they will?
