Alejandro Garnacho is looking set to find a new club after a strained first year at Stamford Bridge.

The former Argentina international made history with his move from Manchester United to Chelsea, becoming the most expensive sale of a United academy graduate of all time.

At 21-years-old, his move saw United get paid £40 million, pure profit under Profit and Sustainability Rules, with Matheus Cunha coming in to replace him on the left side.

However, for Garnacho, his move wasn’t as successful as he first hoped

Across all competitions, the former United man made 43 appearances, averaging at 50 mins, scoring eight goals and grabbing four assists.

While he still made a good number of appearances, 21 of them came off the bench, with him also being an unused substitute in another 10 matches.

Now though, Chelsea have a new manager, as Xabi Alonso has replaced Liam Rosenior, who replaced Enzo Maresca, with change on the cards this summer.

Revealing this, Fabrizio Romano has reported comments from Alonso who has confirmed the potential departure of Alejandro Garnacho before next season.

Discussing the potential move, Alonso commented: “There is interest in him [Alejandro Garnacho] from other clubs. Hopefully it finishes in the best possible way for everyone”.

While no clubs were named, there’s been long-term links with a move to Italy, with Napoli watching the winger while he was at Old Trafford.

However, now it’s AS Roma who are closing in on a move for the 22-year-old, initially wanting to agree a loan deal with an obligation to buy.

It’s understood that Chelsea are wanting a permanent move for £34 million (€40 million), with The Blues already identifying Bologna’s Jonathan Rowe as a potential replacement.

Elsewhere Garnacho also has continued interest from the Saudi Pro League, who were also looking to the star at Old Trafford.
