Xabi Alonso finally admits the Endrick truth Real Madrid fans already knew

Real Madrid barely survived against Talavera in the Copa del Rey Round of 32, and manager Xabi Alonso really has goalkeeper Andriy Lunin and a few fortunate goals for the club avoiding a monumental upset worse than the Alcoyano scale.

Alonso’s coaching has been called into question strongly by Madridistas, who remain fully unconvinced by the Spanish international in the manager’s chair after a, quite frankly, woeful showing against a lower division side.

And what has made Alonso’s coaching stand out even more negatively is the success of young Endrick. The Brazilian phenom has been completely shut out by the new coach, and his talent evaluation has been seriously called into question for it.

Endrick was fabulous and one of the very few positives of this showing on Wednesday night against Talavera. He showed so much quality as a passer and in transition, with Kylian Mbappe wasting two clear cut goals that the teenager crafted from out of nothing.

Whereas Endrick was phenomenal, the players Alonso usually plays over him were horrid. Endrick getting snubbed and on the verge of a January loan to Lyon when Alonso is using Franco Mastantuono and Gonzalo Garcia is crazy, and both Garcia and Mastantuono were pathetically poor against lowly Talavera, too.

After the game at the post match press conference, Xabi Alonso had to swallow his pride and admit to the annoyed Real Madrid fans that, yes, Endrick is fully legit and played out of his mind against Talavera:

“Endrick did very well, I want to congratulate him. Great change of pace, explosive, vertical. He was very good”.

Honestly, Alonso should have been praising Endrick even more strongly than just saying that he was “very good”, but maybe his ego could not handle that. Given Alonso is a flash in the pan with one great season as a coach and a whole lot of nothing, Madidistas have every reason to wonder if he is the ego centric and incompetent problem holding the team back, especially when looking at how the stars he snubs perform when finally given a chance.
