After Luka Modric, now Milan are reportedly also asking after Bayer Leverkusen veteran midfielder Granit Xhaka for new coach Max Allegri.
It is now confirmed that an agreement was reached with Modric to sign a contract and undergo a medical next week, even though he is about to celebrate his 40th birthday.
This is because Allegri has always appreciated experience in his players more than youth and vitality, which is why they are also looking at Xhaka.
The Switzerland international will turn 33 in September and is under contract with Bayer Leverkusen until June 2028, but could still be available for the right price and project.
According to transfer pundit Matteo Moretto, Milan are in the initial stages of an approach for Xhaka, but it is early days and there has been no direct contact yet.
The former Arsenal man made 49 competitive appearances this season for Bayer Leverkusen, contributing two goals and seven assists.
