Without question, this AUSL season has provided softball fans with great games, especially in Rosemont with sold-out crowds. The doubleheader action on Wednesday marked the final pair of matchups there until later this month. As for the games themselves, a thrilling conclusion and more great pitching on the menu. That being said, here are Games 29 and 30 of this AUSL season.

Game 29: Walking It Off In Rosemont

In this case, the Blaze and Bandits scored a combined 22 runs in their last matchup. The offense got underway with a solo home run by Ali Newland for the Blaze in the top of the second inning. Next, Skylar Wallace tied the game for the Bandits with an RBI groundout in the bottom of the third. In the fourth, Newland added an RBI double to give the Blaze the lead 2-1. However, a two-run double by Bella Dayton gave the lead back to the Bandits 3-2 in the bottom of the inning.

The Bandits added another run thanks to a solo homer by Erin Coffel in the fifth for a 4-2 lead. Following a scoreless sixth, Kalei Harding made the game even with a two-run homer to left homer in the seventh, making it 4-4. Now, extra innings was in order at The Parkway Bank Sports Complex in another great game between both teams.

While the Blaze plated no runs in their half of the eighth inning, the Bandits had a chance to walk it off. Delanie Wisz hit a single to left field, scoring Bubba Nickles-Camarena for the 5-4 win.

Here, Odicci Alexander picked up her third win of the AUSL season in two innings of work for the Bandits.

Game 30: Dynamic Arms On Display

If one was in search of great pitching, this Volts – Talons game was for you. This game saw a total of eight hits and just two runs. Speaking of the offense, all of it came via the bat of Tori Vidales for the Talons. In this case, she hit an RBI single in the bottom of the first and another one in the third inning.

Additionally, the arms of right-handers Raelin Chaffin and Megan Faraimo led the way in the 2-0 win for the Talons. Chaffin went three innings, allowing a hit and walk with a strikeout as Faraimo went the remaining four innings.

Faraimo allowed three hits, two walks, and sat down three Volts batters. What’s more, the former UCLA star is currently second in the AUSL in strikeouts with 31. Now, the AUSL shifts to Omaha, Nebraska and Seattle, Washington from July 11 – 13.
