A Jolt Of Lightning In The Circle

Without question, Rachel Garcia is a tour-de-force anytime she steps onto a softball field. This time, the 2023 AUX Champion took to the circle to face the Bandits. Following two scoreless innings, Amanda Lorenz gave the Volts an early lead with a two-run home run to left center in the bottom of the third inning.

Next, Dejah Mulipola and Danieca Coffey added RBIs in the fourth frame to expand the Volts lead to 4-0. Finally, Tiare Jennings capped of the Volts offense with a solo homer in the fifth to left center.

As for the Bandits offense, all of it came in the top of the seventh inning. RBI singles by Erin Coffel and Delanie Wisz and Cori McMillan scoring on a fielding error was it for the Bandits. The final score was a 5-3 victory for the Volts. Garcia pitched her AUSL-leading second complete game, allowing three hits with nine strikeouts.

She also leads in AUSL in strikeouts with 40. The former UCLA Bruins is making her case for Pitcher of the Year as there’s more time to add to her resume.

Another Stellar Effort In The Circle

All things considered, it was all about the pitching in Rosemont as it was Megan Faraimo‘s turn to put on a show against the Blaze. Offensively, an RBI by Aliyah Andrews in the top of the third was all the Blaze managed off of Faraimo.

As for the Talons, the offense got underway in the bottom of the third inning. First, Hannah Flippen hit a two-run single to center and then Tori Vidales added another RBI via a fielder’s choice.

Finally, Ali Aguilar slammed a two-run homer, Victoria Hayward hit a two-run double, and Flippen with one more RBI in the fourth. The 9-1 win by the Talons was of a run-rule variety as Faraimo , a member of the AUSL Player Executive Committee, picked up win No. 2 of the season. She allowed two hits, an earned run, and sat down seven in five innings.
