In a wild turn of events, a Norwegian free diver, Timo Dersch, was caught by surprise by a massive humpback whale while diving with a pod of Orcas. For an experienced free diver and photographer + film maker, this would be a peak experience--a gift for years of dedication to the wilderness of the cold Arctic seas. For most mortals, this would be terrifying.
First of all, most people wouldn't even think of diving in Norway just based on the cold--let alone getting in with that amount of marine life. You can see a massive shoal of fish all around throughout the video and, surely, that what the whales are excited about. Again, for an experienced diver, being with Orcas as they actively hunt would be a dream. For others, they would be like "what the f---!? You wan't me to get in the water while Killer Whales are having a feeding frenzy?!"
It's pretty wild to think about the vast spectrum of what humans do for enjoyment--some play video games and lurk online, some surf friendly waves, some surf deadly waves, some free dive with Orcas in Norway. Bravo man, bravo.
It seems as if the Universe smiled on him with this incredible encounter that he'll be sure to never forget. Dersch has a proper underwater photo rig with him as well as what seems to be a 360 camera filming him, no one else is mentioned as having filmed the clip.
