In 1985, the American video game series “Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?” was released to the masses. One could ask the same question of Eryn Krouse. Hailing from San Clemente, Eryn has what looks to be a sweet gig. She surfs, models and travels all over the world, sharing much of her experience and personality through her YouTube channel.

Eryn started working with the camera a decade ago at the University of California, Santa Barbara because it was just a fun thing to do. Now it’s a fully-fledged business with 319,000 subs to her name. “I never started it for fame and recognition,” she said. “It was more so a creative outlet and a really fun way to showcase my life. I have to pinch myself pretty often that this is my job.”

As you’ll see in SURFER’s fourth installment of Meet the Vloggers, Eryn edits her own content, is a well-spoken creative, and is quite a graceful surfer. A key part of her work is traveling to idyllic tropical locations, setting her line and having a ball on her board. That relatability, she said, has made an impact on her audience.

“What makes my vlogs unique, in my opinion, is that I get to live the life of a professional surfer without actually being a professional surfer. When I’m surfing I’m not chasing these slabs or barrels, I’m chasing these dreamy, intermediate-level longboard waves. That also makes me different from the other professional surfers’ take on travel.”

“I don’t see it being a forever thing,” she concluded. “I think I just want to do it for the next couple of years and maybe take a step back when I turn 30, but we’ll see how it goes. For now though where I see it taking me is going for a surf.”
