Landlocked regions of the globe are quickly collecting surf spots, as the modern-day explosion of surf parks rages on. The latest to jump on the man-made wave train? The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Surftopia, as it’s being called, will be a component of the Aquarabia water theme park, coming to the Saudi capital of Riyadh by the end of the year. The wave pool will feature Endless Surf technology – the same stuff we’ve been salivating over for months now coming out of Munich, Germany.

The park, as a whole, will be operated by Six Flags. Here’s a first look (via artist rendition):

Behind the project is the Qiddiya Investment Company, and like many other wave pools like it, the surf tub won’t be the only aspect of the development. Per Ausleisure, it will also feature: “residential neighborhoods, green zones, cultural spaces, schools and medical facilities being developed as part of the Kingdom’s plan to diversify its economy and improve the quality of life for its residents…[the aforementioned] Six Flags theme park, esports venues, a multi-use stadium and a motorsports track. When operational, Six Flags will operate both of the theme parks.”

As for specs on the pool, here’s Wave Pool Mag: “Surftopia will use 32 programmable caissons to generate customizable waves across four distinct wave pool zones. This setup allows surfers of varying abilities to session side by side in the same lagoon. Measuring 180 meters by 73 meters and holding more than 10,000 cubic meters of water, the pool’s design also incorporates a canyon-style backdrop and a rock facade wall.”

With the Kelly Slater Wave Company’s Surf Abu Dhabi already operational, the coming pool to Bahrain, and now one inbound for Saudi Arabia, the Middle East surf scene is about to be next level.
