In the world of social media influencers, surfing doesn’t scratch the surface.

Sure, we have our people, our moments of virality – the Alana Blanchards, the KookSlams, and Gabriel Medina’s kickout seen ‘round the world from the Olympics.

But in mainstream terms, surfing is zilch.

Enter Anthony Dawson, better known as TooTurntTony. He’s an…influencer? It’s somewhat hard to tell from the content he produces, which blends animals (like his pet duck), pranks, stunts, drinking booze, and the like. In other words, he’s a modern renaissance man, perfectly poised for virality within the doom-scroll algorithms of TikTok users.

And recently, he decided to pick a fight with some surfers in Florida. Let’s let Tony explain:

“We had an incident at the beach today. It all started when these surfers wandered into the middle of our fishing lines. The men intentionally would not move, so we dropped a stingray [via drone] near their head. They weren’t happy. They then returned to cut our lines.”

From there, Tony and his crew retaliate once again, dropping feces from some unknown pet via drone onto one of the surfers. And then, “they did call the cops. However, it turns out threatening a gat outweighs a flying dookie.”

One of the surfers, in a fit of rage, did yell: “You think you’re a tough guy? Wait until I come back with my gat [gun]. F*ck you, f*ck boy.”

After the cops arrived, and by the looks of things the tensions fizzled, Tony and his crew caught a shark, claiming: “This would’ve got those surfers. Thank god we saved them.”

The shark was tiny.

And the saga concludes with Tony and his crew shotgunning tallboys. Happy ending. Well, except for the surfers. Should surfers strive for this type of virality?

Also, who’s in the wrong here?
