A crime has been committed in Hawaii, and it was all caught on camera.
Location? Jamie O’Brien’s surf school in Waikiki, Oahu. The culprits? A group of teens, likely of the gen z demographic. The stolen goods? One of JOB’s classic, pink-airbrushed surfboards, swiped from what appears to be a backroom of the shop.
Now, JOB is calling on his followers to catch the thieves…and teach them a lesson.
Posting footage of the incident, JOB captioned:
“Please help me identify these kids.
“They came into our store @jobschoolofsurf with a clear plan to steal my surfboard. I’d like to believe their parents raised them better than this walking into a local business and stealing is not only disappointing, it’s unacceptable.
“If you recognize them, shoot me a direct message. I’d honestly like to sit down with them and their parents, because this kind of behavior needs to be addressed now before it becomes a pattern.
“Actions have consequences. Let’s teach them that lesson.”
Even Kelly Slater chimed in on the situation, calling for justice. The 11x world champ commented: “Name and shame” and “principle over money.”
Of course, pro surfers have heaps of surfboards. If one goes missing, it’s not a big deal. JOB, himself, is often showing off his extensive quiver located in his garage on the North Shore of Oahu. However, like Slater mentioned, this is about the principle. These kids need to be taught a lesson, learn from their actions, etc.
Plus, it’s not going to be easy hiding, riding, or attempting to sell a board as distinct as this one. It’s literally decorated in bright pink, with JOB’s sponsors adorning the deck and rails. Also, these boys are clearly caught on camera.
It’s only a matter of time…
