Portuguese Big wave surfer Nic Von Rupp rides some of the world's biggest and gnarliest waves.
Earlier this year, Von Rupp launched the second season of his surf-slash-travel series, "Portugal Back to Back,"and with it, he's taken viewers to the regions of Aveiro, Oeste, Peniche, the Azores, Algarve, and his hometown of Lisbon.
In the latest vlog below, he reveals a side of Ireland's surf that'll make your jaw drop.
In his latest vlog above, Von Rupp is on the hunt for mind-bogglingly massive waves, and he finds them.
In the caption, von Rupp lays out the plan:
"In this episode, Nic surfs the legendary wave of Mullaghmore in Ireland, where freezing temperatures and a dangerous shallow reef awaken the year's most massive waves."
"Nic and Torrey Meister stood among the select few surfers daring enough to paddle out, conquering some of the largest waves Ireland has ever witnessed.
"Despite the nearly insurmountable odds, including flight cancellations, delays, and minimal sleep, this session emerged as one of the standout moments of 2023."
The vlog opens with von Rupp and Meister stuck in the Lisbon airport, trying to get to Ireland.
Von Rupp's "baffled" and isn't sure what to do.
"We just got denied. Tomorrow's going to be absolutely firing," he says. "This is as grindy as it gets."
The two surfers are clearly stressed.
Meister chimes in and says, "I hope we can get on the next plane. It's gonna be a mission, but tomorrow's supposed to be all time. This is our last chance to make it for this swell."
