With his back against the wall, Kaniela Stewart performed masterfully in his signature style to earn the day’s best with an excellent 16.17 showing alongside fellow Waikīkī icon Kai Sallas. Sallas’ World Longboard Champion form emerged when it mattered most before reigning World Longboard Champ Rachael Tilly found her footing to surge toward the Round of 16. But, where established names rose, some heavy upsets provided early shakeups courtesy of event wildcards Gavin Idone, Cash Hoover, and Victoria’s own Beatrice Conroy in convincing displays.
