Antics. Sending it for the views. Stirring the pot.

These are the methods to Jacob “Zeke” Szekely’s madness. And while the La Jolla, San Diego native is an exceptional surfer – especially in the world of novelty waves and wave pools, and pushing the boundaries of progression in the air above the chlorine – he also is a big-time YouTuber. And with that, comes a tendency to do stupid things, just to keep his channel (fans?) entertained.

Hence, the don’t forget to like and subscribe! ethos. Well, in his latest stunt, Zeke brought a surfboard to Southern California’s Big Bear Mountain, ripped the fins out, and attempted to shred the slopes. But the workers of Big Bear were not too stoked. See how it played out below.

Per Zeke, here’s how he envisioned it playing out:

“I’m gonna ride my surfboard down the mountain, just to keep it core. The goal today is to land a shuv-it, on a surfboard, at Big Bear…down like a huge slope. Or try to hit a jump on a surfboard in the snow. So, let’s get to it.”

But things didn’t go as planned. Soon after the surfboard was busted out, the fuzz stepped in.

“We got a call,” said one Big Bear employee. “Unfortunately it’s for you. He was like, ‘We got a guy trying to drop into the [half]pipe on a surfboard in a wetsuit. We died laughing, dude.”

Another employee, however, was not as amused. “I guarantee you could hit that box,” she said. “I trust you have the ability. But unfortunately we cannot let you. Get permission. Get the waivers signed. Get something that says you understand what you’re doing.”

For those few moments, though, before he got shut down, how’d it go?

“It slid like crazy,” Zeke said. “I was going too fast. It was too hard to balance and stay on the board. And we got rolled within, like, five minutes of trying it.”

Maybe next time.
