After Ending Novak Djokovic Partnership Andy Murray Finds a New Job
USA TODAY Sports

After wrapping up a six-month coaching partnership with former rival Novak Djokovic, British tennis legend Andy Murray is embracing a fresh challenge—this time off the court. The double Wimbledon champion has taken up a new role in the world of venture capital, marking a significant step in his post-tennis business journey.

The 38-year-old tennis icon, has joined Redrice Ventures, a London-based investment firm, as an associate partner, where he will focus on identifying promising opportunities, particularly in the sports sector. This transition represents a part of a long-term vision Murray has targeted as he gradually distances himself from professional tennis.

“It’s difficult to step away from a sport like tennis, which has been so all-consuming for me for so long, and then not have anything to fill that void,” said Murray in an exclusive interview with The Sunday Times.

“I’ve seen it before with other athletes, when they haven’t had other interests straight after sport, it becomes hard for them to know who they are,” continued Murray. “My plan was always to spend more time on my other business interests once I’d finished playing tennis, and I’m enjoying starting to work on some of those projects now.”

Tennis has seen multiple retired players, who have left tennis for good and have instead pursued other avenues of income. Serena Williams is one such name who has invested in multiple brands that do not relate to tennis. Dominic Thiem is another name from recent times, who is leading a life that doesn’t see him just as a retired tennis athlete.

Whether Andy Murray finds his feet in his new pursuit or not, remains to be seen. The tennis fans will surely miss seeing him on the tour and will hope that someday he comes back to commentate or coach someone in the tennis world.
