Czech tennis star Karolina Muchova is going through a challenging period in her career following a heartbreaking loss at Roland Garros. After her first-round defeat at the French Open, Muchova revealed she might need to undergo another surgery due to persistent pain in her left wrist, a procedure that could sideline world's No. 13 again for several months.

Muchova, who has struggled with injuries throughout her career, was visibly hampered during her match in Paris. Despite her determination, she was unable to perform at her best and seemed to had lost her usual power. After the match, she shared her concerns with the media, stating:

"I wanted to play here. I kept waiting to see if my wrist would get better. One day it’s better and then it’s worse, but unfortunately, I’ve been in a lot of pain the last few days, so I couldn’t do it. I thought I had a chance but it just wasn’t the case with this opponent,” the Czech said.

The 27-year-old has already endured a lengthy recovery from previous injuries. These physical problems have slowed the dangerous Czech down, a player that when healthy has already prove that can beat WTA's top players.

Her resilience, fighting spirit and exciting playing style have made her a fan favorite, but the recurring physical setbacks have been a major obstacle. "It hurts a lot, but I will try to stay positive and see what the future brings," Muchova added.

Karolina's situation is particularly bitter considering her impressive run to the 2023 French Open final, where she had a hard-fought battle against Iga Swiatek. Unfortunately, injuries have continued to disrupt her momentum, raising questions about her ability to stay healthy and play consistently.

"I have to see what the doctors say. It's possible that I will have to undergo another surgery. I will know more in the coming days."

"I treated my right wrist conservatively for half a year and then I had surgery anyway. That is always the last option for me, I don’t want to have it. I will try some alternative solutions, but if they don’t work, I will have to go back to the operating room," concluded Muchova.

As she awaits further medical evaluation, Muchova’s supporters and the tennis community are hoping for positive news. Having the Czech on the Tour ensures high quality tennis as one of the most talented and spectacular players to catch on a tournament.
