Alexandra Eala remains one of the most promising talents on the WTA Tour despite a recent drop in the rankings.
The Filipina reached a career-high world number 29 before slipping to 45 after the Miami Open, forcing her into a battle to climb back up.
Even so, her growing profile continues to attract attention, both for her performances and her strong fanbase support.
Eala revealed she would like to team up with some of the biggest names in men’s tennis in mixed doubles competition.
She said in an Instagram story on the Porsche Tennis profile: “I’d love to play mixed doubles of course with Novak or Carlos Alcaraz. And I think Joao Fonseca is also a good one. I think he’s got a good crowd, so I think that would be great.”
While Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz stand out as established stars, the mention of Joao Fonseca adds a different dimension to her selection.
Fonseca, like Eala, has developed a strong fanbase, creating the kind of buzz that could fill larger courts if they were ever to partner together.
The combination of their popularity and rising status suggests such a pairing would generate significant attention, even as both continue working to establish themselves at the highest level.
Eala now turns her focus to her next challenge on tour.
She is scheduled to face world number 25 Leylah Fernandez on 14 April at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, also known as the Stuttgart Open.
The tournament in Germany marks her second clay tournament of the season, following her appearance in Linz.
