The tennis world was sent into a stir over the weekend as Alexander Zverev was spotted training with Toni Nadal in a video shared on social media by a fan but there could be legs in the partnership according to German media.

The German media outlet ZDFHeute reports that it is a 'realistic option' for the partnership to become more of a permanent partnership. Albeit there are question marks surrounding it as the report goes into.

Sky reported that Nadal is set to become Zverev's new coach and they will complete a trial period together with Rafael Nadal even taking on a mentor role. But while the development of Nadal's involvement is not particularly that known right now, the role of Toni Nadal is more of a mooted process.

ZDFheute confirmed that Zverev was participating in a multi-day trial with the uncle of the Spanish clay court king which is common process even with a coach as well known as Toni Nadal.

The report further says that both sides have been considering how a further collaboration might look in terms of timing and also finances. They then called the partnership a 'realistic option' and not just a last minute decision based on a poor few months.

It has supposedly been a thought process for some time. It was long rumoured that Zverev would join forces with a certain Boris Becker which was rumoured at the same time that Tsitsipas joined up with Goran Ivanisevic. But while one bore fruit, the other less so as Zverev continued to work with his father.

The main question remains like Tsitsipas and that is his father. He has long been involved in guiding his career and has been a usual presence despite him being coached by a malaise of top names including David Ferrer, Sergi Bruguera among others. While we might not get answers until the US, the presence of Toni Nadal could reinvigorate a player who is World No.3 still but facing a decline.
