Carlos Alcaraz wins epic men's Wimbledon final

Carlos Alcaraz's time has come.

The Spanish tennis phenom outlasted Novak Djokovic in an epic, five-set men's final at Wimbledon, winning 1-6, 7-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 in a match that lasted four hours and 42 minutes and had fans at Centre Court and across the globe on the edge of their seats.

Here's when Alcaraz slayed arguably the greatest men's tennis player ever.

The final looked like it would be anticlimactic after Djokovic breezed through the first set but that quickly changed with an intense second set that lasted over an hour and ended with Alcaraz breaking Djokovic's streak of tiebreaks won at a major.

The third set included a game that lasted 26 minutes and 56 seconds and featured 13 deuces before Alcaraz finally broke Djokovic's serve to go up 4-1.

Alcaraz and Djokovic had an incredible rally in the fifth set when Djokovic fell to the turf but was able to gather himself before Alcaraz won the point. Afterward, Djokovic took out his frustration by destroying his racket.

As Front Office Sports noted, Alcaraz, 20, became the youngest player ranked No. 1 in the world last year. He'll keep his spot thanks to his Wimbledon victory.

Djokovic's last loss on Centre Court at Wimbledon was in the 2013 finals to Andy Murray when Alcaraz was just 10 years old. It's premature to suggest Djokovic's run as a Grand Slam champion is over but he no longer stands head-and-shoulders above the rest of the sport.

Men's tennis welcomed another giant on Sunday. Alcaraz is just getting started.
