Tennis legend Roger Federer, known for his significant impact on the sport, has positively transformed the game. After a couple of years since his retirement, the Swiss ace is reconnecting with his roots by picking up a racket once again.

However, there is a twist. Federer returned to the court to help the gaming team of ‘TopSpin 2K25’ in capturing his tennis motions for the video game. TopSpin 2K25 is a tennis series game that allows users to create their own character and enter the virtual world of tennis.

One of the main characters is Roger Federer, and a user can play against the tennis pro. In a recent video, the official TopSpin company released footage of Federer playing tennis for motion capture purposes. This motion will be used to make his in-game character more realistic when playing as Federer in the game.

I was quite impressed how well you can see, okay this is Roger's jump forehand and running forehand. revealed Roger Federer via TopSpin2k25 socials

Thanks to advancing technology, Federer’s signature moves like his jump forehand and iconic backhand have been captured in the game, giving users a chance to experience his style. As a big video game fan, Federer praised TopSpin 2K25 for its benefits and hopes it can educate and inspire players to try real-life tennis.

Roger Federer sees being part of TopSpin as ‘giving back’ to the sport

Tennis ace Roger Federer is savoring his retirement but remains connected to the sport, finding new ways to contribute to tennis. Being part of the TopSpin game element being one of those ways.

The 20-time singles Grand Slam champion is one of the main characters of the upcoming TopSpin 2K25 game, and he had to dive back into his roots to replicate the moves he once used to dominate on the court.

I am happy to sort of be back. This is one of the ways also for me giving back, and it's a kind that I enjoy doing motion capture and be part of a video game. said Roger Federer

Now, Federer’s fans can not only watch him play but also compete against the tennis pro in a virtual setting. This allows Federer to be a significant part of a video game franchise, stepping onto the virtual court.
