Eight-time Grand Slam champion Andre Agassi delighted fans with his wit and insight as he recently shared the commentary box with the likes of Tim Henman, Andrew Castle, and John Lloyd during the Wimbledon semifinal match between Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz. Agassi drew parallels between Alcaraz’s style and those of tennis legends Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic.
The young Spaniard is often compared to having characteristics of the Big 3 as he is cementing his place as an all-surface champion.
It’s like he has the touch of Federer, the defense of Novak, and the RPM of Nadal combined in one person.

Agassi was a champion at the All England Club in 1992, where he defeated Goran Ivanisevic in five sets to clinch his maiden Grand Slam title.
In the 2025 semifinal, two-time defending champion Alcaraz overcame five-time grass court titlist Fritz in four sets to reach the Wimbledon final, where, akin to the Roland Garros final last month, he will face three-time Grand Slam champion Jannik Sinner.
Competing on a hot day, Carlos Alcaraz won 88% of his first-serve points in the two-hour and 48-minute clash. The 22-year-old was also aggressive on his second serve and return, securing a break in the first game of the match. Though Alcaraz needed his eye checked midway through the set, there was no loss of focus from him as he held serve to clinch the opener.
He suffered a brief lapse in level towards the end of the second set, producing an ill-timed double fault and two costly unforced errors, but bounced back impressively in the third. In a tightly contested fourth-set tiebreak, Taylor Fritz came from 4-1 down, only for Alcaraz to save two set points to avoid a fifth set and seal the victory with a scoreline of 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, 7(8)-6(6). He is now on a 24-match win streak.
Alcaraz enters the Wimbledon final as a strong favorite with a 100% win-loss record in Grand Slam finals. The five-time Grand Slam champion will be aiming to be the fifth person to win three consecutive Wimbledon titles after Bjorn Borg, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic. He will also be the third person to clinch multiple Channel Slams after Borg and Rafael Nadal.
He will face Jannik Sinner for the second time in a Grand Slam final, and fans are expecting this encounter to be an absolute thriller after what everyone witnessed in the Roland Garros final last month. Both players played at an extremely high level and showed great resilience in the five-set battle, however the World No. 2 ultimately defended his Roland Garros crown after saving three championship points. Alcaraz has an impressive 8-4 head-to-head record over the World No. 1, winning the last five encounters.
Mirroring the rivalries of the Big 4 generation, this is the second time since 2008 that the same players have played both the Roland Garros and Wimbledon finals.
Federer and Nadal had an intense rivalry, as the former would often win the Wimbledon finals while the latter triumphed at the Rolando Garros finals whenever they met, particularly during the mid- to late 2000s. However, 2008 was a turning point, as after clinching the Roland Garros title, Nadal went on to win the Wimbledon title, defeating Federer, the five-time defending champion, for the first time in the tournament.
