Murray retired after the 2024 Paris Olympics last summer, with three Grand Slam titles and 46 Masters Tour titles won overall.
Among his highlights are two titles at Wimbledon and another at the US Open, with his win at the All England Club ending a 77-year wait for a British men’s singles champion.
Although he doesn’t plan to return to Wimbledon this year, the All England Club has grand plans to honour him.
Even though he won’t be at this year’s tournament, he appeared in a Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) video asking him to build the perfect player ahead of Wimbledon.
Given a selection of random ATP and WTA players, Murray made his picks – and he felt pretty confident with the end result too.
The Briton chose Elina Svitolina for backhand, Rafael Nadal for mentality, Carlos Alcaraz for forehand, Aryna Sabalenka for serve, Roger Federer for touch and Gael Monfils for speed completed the incredible lineup.
“That’s the perfect player,” he said.

Sabalenka hasn’t played any matches on the surface so far in 2025 either, with a shoulder issue ruling her out of everything since the French Open. She also has never won the SW19 trophy, just like Svitolina and Monfils.
Alcaraz is in a position to become one of the greatest Wimbledon players ever seen, with two titles to his name already at just 22 years old.
Nadal finished his career 62-14 at the major and became the legend that he is due to that legendary mentality. The Spaniard holds two Wimbledon titles.
Federer is the most successful Wimbledon champion of all time, with eight titles. His record is currently being chased by Novak Djokovic, who was crowned champion seven times at SW19.
