Sabalenka revealed on Instagram stories that she met Ronaldo and received a signed Brazil jersey. The gesture stood out as a symbol of mutual respect between two elite athletes.

The 27-year-old Belarusian also shared moments alongside Ronaldo’s wife, model Celina Locks.

Her connection to Brazil continues to grow, reinforced by her engagement to entrepreneur Georgio Frangulis, CEO and founder of OakBerry. He has helped develop a close link between Sabalenka and Brazilian culture.

During the Miami Open, she publicly thanked Brazilian fans for their support throughout the tournament.

Ronaldo’s 1998 World Cup shirt choice adds deeper historical context

Ronaldo’s gift carried added meaning. He chose to present his number nine shirt from the 1998 World Cup rather than the 2002 version.

The decision is notable given the contrasting narratives. In 2002, Ronaldo was champion and top scorer, completing one of football’s most celebrated comebacks.

In 1998, he was the tournament’s best player but finished as runner-up after Brazil’s 3-0 defeat to France. The final was overshadowed by uncertainty around his condition following a seizure before the match.
