Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner remain at the top of the ATP Prize Money Leaders this week, despite not having competed. Nearly $5 million in earnings separates the Italian from his closest pursuer. Alex De Minaur, meanwhile, saw the most movement, advancing to 7th place and nearing the $3 million mark in yearly earnings after winning the title at the DC Open.
Alcaraz remains at the top despite not competing, with $9.5 million so far this year. His five titles this season and two finals reached account for most of his earnings, especially the French Open trophy. Alcaraz has a 48-6 record for the season and will remain in first place, at least until the end of the Cincinnati Open.
The World No. 1, Sinner ($8.43M), has secured two titles this year, both Grand Slams at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, which make up the bulk of his earnings. His finals appearances at the Rome Open and French Open put him in second place, despite having only played in five tournaments this year.
Despite the absence of Sinner and Alcaraz from the Canadian Open this week, they remain in the top two spots by a wide margin. In the worst-case scenario, no player can break into the top two even after the Canadian Open, Cincinnati Open, and the US Open. If there's any possibility of someone challenging them, it will still take a couple of months.
The top 15 in seasonal earnings saw only one change, with Alex De Minaur ($2.88M) moving from 9th to 7th place after winning the DC Open title and adding almost $500,000 to his total. If he can secure a couple of victories this week at the Canadian Open, he could break the $3 million barrier, joining the top six earners.
Specifically, places 3 through 6 have earnings ranging from $3.2 million to $3.6 million. Alexander Zverev is in third place ($3.58M) and is the only player in the top five who will be competing this week, with the chance to increase the distance from his pursuers Novak Djokovic ($3.4M) and Jack Draper ($3.26M). Both decided to skip Toronto to arrive in better physical condition for upcoming challenges. Djokovic will return in Cincinnati next week, while Draper will have to wait another couple of weeks until the start of the US Open for his comeback tournament.
In 6th place is Taylor Fritz, who competed in the DC Open—being eliminated in the quarterfinals by Alejandro Davidovich Fokina—and will be at the Canadian Open this week. He has already advanced to the Round of 32, equaling Draper’s earnings. Advancing one more round will allow him to earn close to $50,000 and surpass the Brit. Additionally, if he makes it to the quarterfinals in Toronto, he can overtake Novak Djokovic, who is currently in 4th place.
The top 10 consists of the only players who have surpassed $2.5 million in earnings. Casper Ruud—out of action for several weeks—couldn't add much money in his return to the courts at the Gstaad Open, where he fell in the quarterfinals to Juan Manuel Cerundolo. He is closely followed by Lorenzo Musetti ($2.6M) and Ben Shelton ($2.51M). All are already in the Round of 32 in Toronto, and whoever goes furthest in the tournament will take the lead among them.
In total, 14 players have exceeded $2 million in earnings. Holger Rune, Jakub Mensik, Andrey Rublev, and Flavio Cobolli have all established themselves among the best through consistent performance.
