ATP Rome Final Prediction

Carlos Alcaraz vs Jannik Sinner

Head-to-head – Alcaraz 6-4 Sinner

This is such a tough match to call. Carlos Alcaraz has been the in-form player this clay court season with wins in Monte-Carlo and then a final appearance in Barcelona. The electric Spaniard has had a great week again here in Rome and he does look like one of the favourites for Roland Garros.

It was left to be seen how well Jannik Sinner would return to the main tour after having served his suspension. The Italian has so far passed with flying colours. The world number one has hit the ground running and it was as if he never left the tour for three months.

These two are no strangers to each other having already played each other ten times with the two previous encounters on clay being split. Form wise both enter this match with confidence and it looks like a lengthy battle will ensue.

Sinner has bullied his opponents from the baseline but Alcaraz can and has gone toe to toe with Sinner in the past with his own power and guile. The Italian has improved massively at the net but against the likes of Alcaraz, it is still left to be seen how well he handles the various dimensions of the court on clay.

Expect Sinner to come out firing as he did at last year’s Roland Garros semifinal clash but as the match progresses, Alcaraz looks likely to sink his teeth into the match and start opening up the court more. On clay, the Spaniard just looks slightly better.

Prediction: Alcaraz in 3
