ATP Rotterdam Day 2 Predictions Including Andrey Rublev vs Zizou Bergs

Seven first-round singles matches have been scheduled for Tuesday at the 2024 ABN AMRO Open. Borna Coric and Alexander Bublik will bring us a rematch of their recent Montpellier final, while qualifier Zizou Bergs gets a crack at second seed Andrey Rublev. Who do you think will come out on top and advance to the next stage at ATP Rotterdam?

ATP Rotterdam Day 2 Predictions

Borna Coric vs Alexander Bublik

Head-to-Head: Bublik 2-0

These two met in the Montpellier final two weeks ago, with Alexander Bublik winning and completing a historic achievement – becoming the first player to win an ATP Tour title by coming back from a set down in every single match. That whole tournament was magical for the Kazakh, who was willing to grind and dig deep a lot more than usual. He’s already shown it against Borna Coric on a slower indoor court, but this still seems like a close one on paper.

Prediction: Bublik in 3

Fabian Marozsan vs Marton Fucsovics

Head-to-Head: 1-1

Near the end of the 2022 season, Marton Fucsovics beat Fabian Marozsan in the first all-Hungarian Challenger final ever in Bratislava. The younger of the Hungarians has made a lot of progress since, although the indoor courts might still favor Fucsovics in this matchup. Especially as Marozsan recently looked quite off in the Davis Cup tie against Germany, eventually getting subbed off for the reverse singles against Jan-Lennard Struff.

Prediction: Fucsovics in 2

Zhizhen Zhang vs Alexander Shevchenko

Head-to-Head: First meeting

An interesting clash of two players who got onto the main tour more or less at the same time, although at different stages of their careers. Zhizhen Zhang loves all the slower indoor hard courts that we have on tour right now, but that’s also a nice profile for Alexander Shevchenko. Especially as the player representing Kazakhstan now loves having pace to work with. On the attack, he looked very shaky in Marseille last week, though, so maybe Zhang can draw out some errors while hitting his way through him.

Prediction: Zhang in 3

Andrey Rublev vs Zizou Bergs

Head-to-Head: First meeting

It’s the second time this year that Zizou Bergs has received this sort of opportunity. At the Australian Open, he actually managed to take a set off Stefanos Tsitsipas but had issues surviving in the hot conditions and didn’t threaten the Greek after that. He should be more comfortable at an indoor venue like ATP Rotterdam, and in fact, he looked great in the qualifying, taking down Jurij Rodionov and Giulio Zeppieri. The problem is Andrey Rublev remains very tough to get an upset win against and doesn’t have a targettable weakness like Tsitsipas did.

Prediction: Rublev in 2
