The ATP indoor hard-court stretch continues to deliver intrigue in Vienna, where storylines of redemption, resurgence, and rhythm are unfolding. From Matteo Berrettini’s bid to salvage a frustrating season to Alexander Bublik’s pursuit of another title run and Jannik Sinner’s seemingly unstoppable indoor streak, the second-round matchups promise both quality and contrast in styles. Who do you back to advance?
Head-to-Head: Berrettini 2–0 Norrie
Berrettini made a confident start with a straight-sets win over Alexei Popyrin and will aim to continue his strong record in Vienna, where he’s reached at least the quarterfinals in all three previous appearances. However, fitness remains a question after an injury-hit season. Cameron Norrie earned a much-needed boost by defeating Andrey Rublev in three sets, his first main-draw win here since 2021. The Brit’s counterpunching and stamina could test Berrettini’s endurance if the match drags on. Berrettini leads their head-to-head 2–0 and his serve-based indoor game gives him an edge, but Norrie’s consistency might keep things close.
Prediction: Berrettini in 3
Head-to-Head: Cerundolo 1–0 Bublik
Bublik impressed in his opening-round win over the in-form Alejandro Tabilo and will look to ride that confidence–especially given his streak of winning the title each of the last four times he’s advanced past a first round. Cerundolo, meanwhile, snapped a poor run of results with a solid victory over Alex Michelsen. Though the Argentine has managed a few strong wins against top-20 opponents this year, his inconsistency remains a concern. Bublik’s big serve and flair suit Vienna’s quick conditions, and if he stays focused, his attacking style should be too much.
Prediction: Bublik in 2
Head-to-Head: first meeting
Sinner began his campaign in ruthless form, dropping just two games against Daniel Altmaier to extend his indoor winning streak to 20 matches. The World No. 2 has reached at least the quarterfinals here in his last three visits and looks back to full confidence. Cobolli, though promising, is physically worn down and remains winless in 12 matches against Top 10 opponents. Given Sinner’s sharpness and dominance against fellow Italians, it’s hard to see an upset here.
Prediction: Sinner in 2
