ATP 250 Winston-Salem 1/8-Finals

Sonego – Munar: 20.08.2025 23:00 CEST
H2H: 1-1

Lorenzo Sonego has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Cincinnati, Sonego lost to Fritz in tight straight sets in the third round of the tournament. This week in Winston-Salem, Sonego defeated Dostanic in three tight sets after spending almost three hours on the court. In the deciding third set, the Italian trailed 2-4, but turned it quickly around. He is the defending champion in Winston-Salem. Last season, Sonego defeated Michelsen in the final in straight sets.

Jaume Munar has lost three of his last five matches. The Spaniard struggled on hard courts this season so far. Last week in Cincinnati, Munar lost to Comesana in the opening round in straight sets. This week in Winston-Salem, Munar demolished Bellucci in the opening round. He won in straight sets, whilst losing only four games altogether. Munar lost his serve at the very beginning of the match, but quickly turned it around. Other than that, the Spaniard dominated throughout the match.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, this will be a 50-50 matchup, but we disagree. Sonego struggled against the college-level player and almost lost. On the other hand, Munar dominated in the opening round against a tricky opponent. Last season in Cincinnati, under similar conditions, Munar defeated Sonego in three tight sets. We expect a similar outcome tonight.

That being said, Munar winning is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Jaume Munar winning @1.73 @bet365

Baez – Van de Zandschulp: 21.08.2025 02:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Sebastian Baez has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Cincinnati, the Argentine lost to Diallo in the second round in straight sets. This week in Winston-Salem, Baez defeated Carreno-Busta in straight sets. He was great under pressure, saving ten out of twelve breakpoints. In the opening set, Baez trailed 1-3 and saved three set points. However, in the second set, the Argentine offered no breakpoints and dominated from the start until the end.

Botic Van de Zandschulp has won four of his last five matches. This week in Winston-Salem, the Dutchman defeated Walton in the opening round in three tight sets. After losing the opening set 2-6, Van de Zandschulp stepped up his level and turned the match around after playing for almost three hours. In the second round, Arnaldi had no chance against him. Van de Zandschulp served extraordinarily well, not offering any breakpoints. He hopes to go deep this week to cement his top 100 status and maybe even come closer to the top 50 in the rankings.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Van de Zandschulp is the favourite in this matchup, and we agree. He enjoys playing in the States on fast courts, such as those in Winston-Salem. On the other hand, Baez loves clay courts. Van de Zandschulp dominated in the second round against Arnaldi. We expect him to be a better player tonight and win easily.

That being said, Van de Zandschulp winning is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Botic Van de Zandschulp winning @1.50 @bet365
