Nine matches are scheduled on Day 2 of the Winston-Salem Open, including two second-round matches. This article features #7 seed Nuno Borges, who will face Kamil Majchrzak of Poland. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for every match on the slate. But who will advance to the next round?

ATP Winston-Salem Day 2 Predictions

Mariano Navone vs Dhakshineshwar Suresh

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Mariano Navone is looking for his first tour-level hard-court win since March and has an easy opener on paper against world No. 663, Dhakshineshwar Suresh. However, Suresh got the biggest win of his life by beating former top-20 player Alejandro Tabilo in the last round of qualifying. The Indian player is making his ATP debut and will be full of confidence after that win. Navone is vulnerable on this surface, but his experience at this level should help him come through this.

Prediction: Navone in 3

Nishesh Basavareddy vs Raphael Collignon

Head-to-Head: first meeting

20-year-old Nishesh Basavareddy has been playing some good tennis recently, and it showed in his performance in the qualifying rounds. He cruised through his matches and will be confident to get the win against Raphael Collignon, who is ranked just two spots above Basavareddy. Collignon hasn’t played on hard courts since February and will struggle to play an in-form player right away. I am going with the American in this one.

Prediction: Basavareddy in 2

Aleksandar Kovacevic vs Filip Misolic

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Filip Misolic has done well on the ATP Tour this season, reaching two quarterfinals. However, those runs came on clay, and his hard-court record is almost non-existent, with just one win. Aleksandar Kovacevic is a more accomplished player on this surface and has recently accumulated more matches under his belt. His aggressive baseline game should favour the Winston-Salem courts. I expect him to break his three-match losing streak here.

Prediction: Kovacevic in 3

Aleksandar Vukic vs Stefan Dostanic

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Aleksandar Vukic has had a mixed bag so far at the North American hard-court swing, with a couple of good wins and some bad losses. He was impressive in qualifying and will be looking to make a run here. Stefan Dostanic has received a wild card and will play his first tour-level match. Dostanic’s form is not good, so it’s hard to expect much from him at this stage. Vukic’s serve is a weapon and should do the job for him.

Prediction: Vukic in 2

Nuno Borges vs Kamil Majchrzak

Head-to-Head: Borges 1-0 Majchrzak

Nuno Borges has yet to find a good level in this North American swing, and his loss against Arthur Rinderknech in Cincinnati was bad. He must improve significantly to get some match wins before the US Open. Kamil Majchrzak is going to be a stern opponent as he likes this surface and is on a six-match winning streak, which includes a Challenger title. He was sublime behind his first serve against Nicolas Jarry in the first round, losing just three points. Borges should improve from his last match, but Majchrzak is the favourite for me.

Prediction: Majchrzak in 3
