Beer chugging tennis fan vows to continue U.S. Open tradition

The name Megan Lucky may not mean much to diehard tennis fans even though she's become one of the top stars of the U.S. Open held in New York City. Lucky has gone viral in back-to-back years for chugging a beer during the summer Grand Slam and most recently accomplished the feat while at Louis Armstrong Stadium this past Friday.

The 26-year-old explained the circumstances surrounding her on-air beverage enjoyment while speaking with Snejana Farberov of the New York Post.

"I was like, if it happens again, I would love to have another moment, to have the crowd go wild one more time," Lucky admitted. She said that camera operators recently spotted her and then began speaking with each other via their walkie-talkies about getting her on the venue's Jumbotron screen.

"I just love having a moment to have people excited and cheer and feel something," she added about the drinks seen around the world.

Lucky said that she "was a little tipsy" for the original chug last summer and felt like she had "to do something" when on the big screen. Others in attendance and also fellow fans watching on television gobbled it up, and the rest, as the saying goes, is history.

The New York City resident said that she plans on attending next year's U.S. Open to once again throw at least one beer back to the delight of others.

"I can’t wait to keep the tradition going," she remarked.

Camera operators and ESPN producers are likely happy to hear it.
