Besides treating fans to another spectacle at the 2025 US Open final, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have etched their names even further in the annals of tennis history.

The budding rivals faced each other in a third consecutive Grand Slam final, after previously meeting at this year's Roland Garros and Wimbledon Championships. Alcaraz battled back from two sets to love down to prevail in Paris, whereas Sinner left SW19 victorious following a four-set triumph.

With the eyes of the tennis community fixed on Flushing Meadows on Sunday afternoon, the duo once again proved why they are the best players in the world. Alcaraz did not drop a set prior to the final, with Sinner being just as efficient as the World No.1 lost only two sets en route to the last match of the tournament.

Nonetheless, it was Alcaraz who prevailed at Arthur Ashe stadium on Sunday. The 2022 champion looked devastating during the intense encounter, stifling a Sinner comeback to record a 6-2 3-6 6-1 6-4 victory and lift his second US Open title.

Alcaraz and Sinner create tennis history with victories in the last eight majors

The dynamic duo have been the two best players on the planet over the last two years. This has been evident in their match records, results and trophy count.

Aside from racking up wins at the ATP Masters 1000 level, the two rivals have split the last eight Grand Slam titles. Dating back to the 2024 Australian Open, either Alcaraz or Sinner has won two of the four majors each year.

Sinner won the 2024 Australian Open title, and has won four out of the last eight Majors, splitting them evenly with Alcaraz. The Italian prevailed in Melbourne in 2024 and 2025, the 2024 US Open and 2025 Wimbledon Championships.

Alternatively, Alcaraz won the French Open in 2024 and 2025, in addition to the Wimbledon title in 2024 and this year's US Open. With both men evenly splitting the last eight major titles, they have set a new record as this is the first time in tennis history that two men have won combined to win eight straight Grand Slam titles. Based on their ages and current form, there is no telling how long the streak will go on until someone breaks their dominant stranglehold at these events.
