Carlos Alcaraz has become the first player to qualify for the ATP Finals 2025 after reaching the Wimbledon semifinals. The Spaniard secured a dominant victory over local favorite Cameron Norrie with a score of 6-2, 6-3, 6-3, marking his 19th consecutive win at the All England Club.

The World No. 2 is in impeccable form and has undoubtedly been the best player of the season so far, boasting a 42-5 record for the year and 5 titles, including his 5th Grand Slam title at Roland Garros just a month ago. Alcaraz has won 32 of his last 33 matches and appears almost unbeatable at Wimbledon.

The victory against Norrie not only puts him back in the Wimbledon semifinals but also secures his place in the Nitto ATP Finals, qualifying for the fourth consecutive time. However, it's worth remembering that Alcaraz did not participate in the 2022 tournament due to an injury.

Alcaraz is the first to qualify for the year-end tournament, having guaranteed a total of 7,040 points in the ATP Ranking. Currently, the ATP Finals Qualification Cut is at 6,665 points – which only considers points obtained in the calendar year.

While Alcaraz remains at ATP Ranking No. 2, behind Sinner, he holds a significant lead in the Race to Turin. After securing his spot in the Wimbledon semifinals – just like Sinner – his advantage over the Italian is 2,240 points. Sinner (4,800) is still far from guaranteeing his participation in the tournament, and even if he wins the title at SW19, he still won't be (at least mathematically) qualified for Turin.

Alcaraz's best participation in the ATP Finals was in 2023, where he reached the semifinals but ultimately fell to Novak Djokovic. The Spaniard at this point in the year seems a step above everyone else, and it remains to be seen when his level might dip. His next challenge will be against Taylor Fritz (No. 4) as he seeks to reach his 6th Grand Slam final.
