Carlos Alcaraz has stuck to his habit of getting a new tattoo every time he wins a Grand Slam, adding another one after his sixth title in New York.
That victory laid the groundwork for what has been an incredible rise. Now at 22, he’s already on pace to reach heights once thought out of reach before the era of the Big Three.

But if he keeps collecting majors at this rate, he’ll be completely covered in tattoos by the time he retires. After defeating Jannik Sinner in the final, Alcaraz spoke with ESPN and was asked about plans for his next tattoo.
Carlos Alcaraz explained: “Well, I said it’s gonna be the first one, the first major. “But seeing that the first one, US Open that I won in 2022, I just tattooed just the date. I had to do something. Right. So what should it be?
“Probably, I’m gonna do two things because I had a bet at the beginning of the tournaments, the Brooklyn Bridge. I think, yeah. And obviously the Statue of Liberty.
“I’m going to do both and obviously the date. Because this one is special, I have to get it tattooed twice. I don’t know if it’s going to be here [on his arm] or on the leg. I’ll have to think about it.”
John McEnroe, reviewing how Sinner couldn’t cope with Alcaraz’s play on Sunday night in New York, remarked on how surprising it is that someone so cheerful off court can be so effective on it.
Carlos Alcaraz first inked his body with a simple date, marking the occasion of his first US Open and Grand Slam win. But over time, he has expanded his tattoo collection.
After winning Wimbledon the following year, he celebrated with a strawberry tattoo on his right ankle and later decided to add the date next to it after defending his title in 2024.

He then won the French Open for the first time in that same year and marked it with an Eiffel Tower tattoo. He said at the time that he would only get one symbol per major title.
But now that he’s already talked about making two tattoos for this year’s US Open, if he keeps up this pace, he could be covered in tattoos within a decade.
