Carlos Alcaraz plans to get tattoos of two iconic New York City landmarks — the Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty — to celebrate his 2025 U.S. Open victory.
The Spaniard, who likes to commemorate each Grand Slam victory with a tattoo unique to the host city, explained why he will get two inks instead of one after capturing his second U.S. Open title.
"When I won in 2022, I tattooed just the date, [so] I had to do something [different]," Alcaraz told ESPN. "Probably I'm going to do two things, because I had a bet at the beginning of the tournament. The Brooklyn Bridge, I think. And obviously the Statue of Liberty. I'm gonna do both, and the date. This one is special, so I have to get it twice."
As Alcaraz noted, he got a tattoo of only the date he won his first major, the 2022 U.S. Open, on Sept. 11, 2022.
The following year, he got a tattoo of a strawberry to signify his first Wimbledon victory. In 2024, he got the ink of the Eiffel Tower to commemorate his first French Open victory.
When he went back-to-back at Wimbledon last year, he claimed he was going to add the date beside the earlier ink for successfully defending The Championships. He did the same thing after his second consecutive Roland-Garros victory earlier this year. Alcaraz had promised to get a tattoo of a kangaroo if he won the Australian Open earlier this year, but he fell to Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinal.

Carlos Alcaraz, at 22 years and 126 days old, officially became the second-youngest player in the Open Era to win six major titles on Sunday, trailing only Swedish legend Bjorn Borg, who was 22 years and 22 days old when he claimed his sixth Grand Slam title.
Alcaraz surpassed his mentor, Rafael Nadal, who was 22 years and 143 days old when he won his sixth major title.
At his pace of winning majors, Alcaraz may be covered in ink from head to toe by the time he calls it a career.
