Coco Gauff Can Unfortunately Relate To U.S. Track Star Gabby Thomas

Earlier this week, Olympic gold medalist Gabby Thomas revealed that she's been dealing with safety issues lately. It's a horrifying situation that former US Open champion Coco Gauff can relate to.

Thomas, who won three gold medals at the 2024 Olympics, revealed in a TikTok video that a group of men have been stalking her. She said they've been asking for her autograph everywhere she goes. Unfortunately, a simple rejection hasn't solved anything since these men are allegedly "aggressive and hostile" towards her.

"It doesn't matter what city," Thomas said. "They've come when I was traveling to and from Chicago, they've come when I'm traveling to and from Miami. And they have my flight information. What scares me is that they have my flight information even when I don't even know what time I'm flying out sometimes — I don't tell anyone my flight information."

"I don't know what to do. Any advice is welcome."

After Thomas posted this video on TikTok, Gauff revealed that she's been dealing with a similar situation. Though she can't confirm it, she has a theory as to why this keeps happening.

"This happens to me too, I don't know how it happens," Gauff wrote. "My theory is maybe someone at the airport tips them off."

It's truly concerning that athletes can't go about their business without having to worry about something like this. Gauff and Thomas already deal with such chaotic schedules. The last thing they need is for men to stalk them when they're out in public.

Thomas told her fans that she'll report her latest incident at Chicago O’Hare International Airport. She recorded two men who were allegedly following her.

"I took this video once when they were following me past TSA," Thomas wrote on social media. "I'll see who I can report it to. I'll continue to take pictures and video. It scared them away."

We certainly hope this situation gets taken care of in the near future.
