Being the final Grand Slam event of the season, the 2025 US Open will see several top ATP and WTA stars compete for the prestigious title. However, fans will be treated to a blend of tennis stars from the past, present and future as they all compete in an exhibition event days before the New York Grand Slam commences.
Dubbed Stars of the Open, the exhibition is scheduled for Thursday, August 21, 2025. The fan-favorite event will showcase talented stars from different eras, as previous champions and retired stars will return to the court one more time in a fun, electrifying environment.
Fans in New York will be treated to some high-quality tennis as a number of former US Open champions are set to feature at this annual event. World No.2 and 2023 Champion Coco Gauff will spearhead the WTA athletes, and the American will be joined by compatriot Venus Williams, who has prevailed in New York on four occasions.
The ATP will showcase some of it's past and future stars, as former US Open champions Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick will be present. The former won the title in New York in 1994 and 1999, whereas Roddick emerged victorious in 2003, capturing his sole Grand Slam title.
Joining the two former World No.1's is retired Argentine Juan Martin del Potro, who reached a career-high ranking of World No.3 after winning the 2009 US Open. The Tandil native defeated 20-time Grand Slam champion in an exciting final, causing one of the biggest upsets in US Open history.
New York native and ATP legend John McEnroe will also be thrilling fans with his trademark style of play and humor. The four-time US Open champion will be returning to the exhibition event for the third straight year.
Making his debut in New York is Brazilian wonderkid Joao Fonseca, who has taken the ATP by storm in his first full season on Tour. The teenager won his maiden ATP title earlier this year at the Argentina Open, and has been touted as one of the future stars of tennis.
