In a new Daily Dose of Social Media, Daniil Medvedev was one of the players who responded to who the five nicest guys on the Tour are, in a Q&A session that also featured Holger Rune and Francisco Cerundolo.

On another note, Jannik Sinner had his first practice at the Cincinnati Open and joined João Fonseca for a cordial greeting on Center Court. Additionally, former gold medalist Monica Puig announced the birth of her first daughter, while Camila Giorgi showed her return to the tennis courts. Could this be a hint of a potential comeback?

Olympic singles gold medalist announces birth of first child

Monica Puig, the 2016 Rio Olympic singles gold medalist, has shared an update on her life since retiring, announcing the birth of her first daughter, Mila Alexandra, who was born on July 30. The 31-year-old Puerto Rican retired three years ago after several years of battling injuries. The former top-30 player received congratulations from several of her colleagues, including Ajla Tomljanovic, Camila Osorio, and Shelby Rogers.

Puig won two professional titles (Strasbourg 2014, Rio 2016) and reached her career-high ranking of world No. 27 that same year. Her best result at a Grand Slam was reaching the fourth round of Wimbledon in 2013, where she fell to 17th seed Sloane Stephens. She retired back in 2022 at the age of 28.

Angelique Kerber enjoys family life after retirement

Angelique Kerber, another retired legend, has shared family photos after her retirement. The former world No. 1 was seen out with her daughter, Liana, who was born in early 2023. After Liana's birth, Kerber—who notably lost to Monica Puig in the 2016 Rio final—returned to the courts for a few final appearances on the WTA Tour. Her final competition was also at an Olympic Games: in Paris 2024, where she reached the quarterfinals, falling to Zheng Qinwen after wasting three match points. Zheng went on to become the gold medalist in the tournament.

"☀️ Summer strolls & sweet moments Making memories one playground at a time ✨" wrote the 3-time Grand Slam champion.

Daniil Medvedev reveals his list of the 5 "nicest guys" on the ATP Tour

Daniil Medvedev has chosen his top five "nicest guys" on the ATP Tour, including some of his biggest rivals. One name that didn't surprise us on Medvedev's list is his friend Andrey Rublev, who is his compatriot and the godfather of his eldest daughter, Alisa. The former world No. 1 also chose six-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz, who is often praised by his colleagues as one of the nicest guys on the Tour.

The complete list chosen by the former US Open champion also includes Casper Ruud, João Fonseca, and Miomir Kecmanović. Other colleagues also chose some of the nicest players on the Tour, with Alcaraz and Ruud being among the most mentioned. Several players answered the interview, including Holger Rune, Francisco Cerundolo, and Lorenzo Musetti, among others.

Medvedev competed at the Canadian Open this week but lost in the third round to defending champion Alexei Popyrin. The Russian continues to fall in the ATP rankings and is now positioned at world No. 15, a significant drop from the consistent top-5 positions he held over the last six seasons. He will have a new opportunity to bounce back and reclaim a spot among the best at the Cincinnati Open.

Is Camila Giorgi returning to the Court?

The Italian Camila Giorgi recently hinted at a return to the courts on her Instagram stories, following her sudden retirement in mid-2024. The Italian—a former Canadian Open WTA 1000 champion—shared a couple of enigmatic photos of her return to a clay court. "Even if I didn't want to come back, you always return to your first love," the former world No. 26 posted on a clay court, along with a photo of a pair of rackets and balls at the edge of the court.

Could this be a sign of a potential comeback? The Italian is currently 33 years old, won four titles in her career, and reached two Grand Slam quarterfinals, both at Wimbledon. The player, who has an especially aggressive playing style, now lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where her father and former coach is from.

Apostolos Tsitsipas shares heartfelt Post with Stefanos

Apostolos Tsitsipas has shared photos with his son Stefanos after they decided to reunite as player and coach following almost a year apart. Apostolos showed the mutual appreciation they have for each other, suggesting that their past conflicts are behind them as they resume their partnership. The former world No. 3 had recently been working with Goran Ivanišević—the former coach of Novak Djokovic—but the association lasted little more than a month and ended with mutual public criticism. A week after announcing the split with Ivanišević, Stefanos announced that he would work with his father again in an effort to return to his best level.
