Following his incredible run to the title at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, Italian tennis superstar Jannik Sinner has agreed to new terms with coach Darren Cahill, ensuring the duo will be working together till the end of 2026.
Sinner looked dominant during his fortnight at SW19, before facing off against two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz. With the pair having clashed at the Roland Garros final a few weeks earlier, fans were not disappointed as Sinner avenged his French Open loss to capture his maiden Wimbledon title.
The Australian coach has been working with Sinner since 2022, leading to positive results. Under his tutelage, Sinner has not only risen to the World No.1 ranking, but has also won four Grand Slam titles.
In January of this year, Sinner had announced that Cahill would be leaving the Italian's team by the end of 2025. There were reports that Sinner had been trying to convince the 59-year old coach to remain on his team, and with the World No.1 winning both the Australian Open and Wimbledon, that may have been the driving force behind Cahill's decision to extend his contract.
"I told him that if I won (Wimbledon), I could choose whether he could stay or not at the end of the year," said Sinner in a recent interview. "Now the choice is mine! If I choose to continue with him, he will probably travel less, that's normal. I always told him that in Australia, I would like to have him with me, because things are going well.
"Afterwards, the season is still long, there are still a lot of tournaments and I will still see him often... But I won the bet, now we will see!"
In addition to Cahill, Sinner also works with Italian coach Simone Vagnozzi. The trio have all been heavily invested in Sinner's progress, which has paid off as the 23-year old has won two of the three Grand Slam tournaments this season (Australian Open and Wimbledon), in addition to finishing runner-up at the third (Roland Garros).
