Davis Cup quarterfinals

Argentina – Germany: 20.11.2025 17:00 CEST
H2H: 7-3

First potential matchup:

Etcheverry – Struff
H2H: 1-1

Tomas Martin Etcheverry has won three of his last five matches. The last match he played was in Athens, where he lost to Muller in the second round, three tight sets to two. The Argentine had his best results on clay courts. He never succeeded on indoor hard courts. Earlier in September, the Argentine helped Argentina beat the Netherlands in the Davis Cup. He defeated de Jong in straight sets.

Jan-Lennard Struff has won five straight matches. Last week in Lyon, the German prepared for the Davis Cup by playing in a Challenger tournament on an indoor hard court. He won the tournament, defeating Broady in the final in straight sets. So far this season, Struff has had his best results on hard courts. Earlier in September, Struff played in Germany’s opening match against Japan. He defeated Nishioka in Japan in three tight sets.

Etcheverry is a better clay-court player than Struff. However, on indoor hard courts, Struff will have an advantage considering his heavy serve. The German is coming to Turin after winning the Challenger tournament under almost the same conditions. We expect him to dominate on his serve and get the first win for Germany.

Second potential matchup:

Cerundolo – Zverev
H2H: 3-1

Francisco Cerundolo has won three of his last five matches. The last match he played was in Paris, where he lost to Sinner in the third round in straight sets. So far this season, Cerundolo has not had any remarkable results on hard courts. His best results happened on clay courts. Earlier in September, Cerundolo helped Argentina beat the Netherlands. He defeated van de Zandschulp in straight sets.

Alexander Zverev has lost three of his last five matches. The last tournament he played was in the ATP Nitto finals. He defeated Shelton in the group stage, but lost to Sinner and Auger-Aliassime in straight sets, which did not qualify him for the semifinals. The German is the highest-ranked player in the Davis Cup knockout phase. Germany has high hopes with him as a leader. The last time he played in the Davis Cup was in 2023, when he defeated Wawrinka and lost to Huesler.

Cerundolo leads 3-1 in head-to-head meetings, but Zverev will have an advantage playing under these fast conditions. The German played well at the ATP Nitto Finals, and we expect him to dominate and secure Germany’s deciding second win.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Germany is the favourite in this matchup, and we agree. They have better hard-court singles players. With Zverev as the number 1, we expect them to win easily against Argentina.

That being said, Germany winning is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Germany winning @1.25 @bet365
