The draw has been confirmed for the Hamburg European Open which will take place between 14-20 July, 2025 with a quick foray onto the clay courts of Germany for a quick sojourn until the US hard courts.
Ekaterina Alexandrova is top seed and has taken a late wildcard. She will face a qualifier in the first and second round with Anna Bondar likely the player to await her in the latter stages.
Home hero Eva Lys is fourth seed and opens up in the same section against Leyre Romero Gormaz. She could then face Arantxa Rus. Mayar Sherif also lurks in that section.
Lois Boisson who made a storm at the French Open also returns to clay after an unsuccessful qualifying attempt at Wimbledon. She faces Julia Grabher then potentially Tamara Korpatsch.
Tatjana Maria reached the final of an event last week in Newport losing to Caty McNally and now returns to face Viktoriya Tomova on home soil.
While Dayana Yastremska fresh off beating Coco Gauff at Wimbledon will face Jule Niemeier as second seed in Hamburg. Diane Parry could await in a quality second round tie.
The quality has semi lacked with the Olympic Games last year meaning many played post Wimbledon but now most won't bother until Washington or Montreal. Especially given that it is going from clay to grass and back to clay.
This has meant depleted entry lists this week. Maria Sakkari for instance was due to play in Iasi but has decided not to and was initially added to that field. Elina Avanesyan and Alycia Parks headline that other tournament which was won last year by Mirra Andreeva.
But as is the men's with Gstaad, Bastad and Los Cabos it is a good opportunity for those who are involved to gain good points without the big names even thinking of entering.
