Emma Raducanu stumbled in her clay court bid at the Internationaux de Strasbourg as she lost out to Danielle Collins from a set in front at 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.
Collins now faces off against Jessica Pegula or Anna Kalinskaya in the Quarter-Finals who are currently playing. The defeat ends a good run of form for the British No.2 who has been superb on clay as of late. She secured three wins at the Rome Open before losing to Coco Gauff.
She then saw off Daria Kasatkina to begin her run at Internationaux de Strasbourg earlier this week. Raducanu made six unforced errors across the first set in a superb opener with multiple aces as she sealed the important break of serve to edge ahead.
Collins though recovered to break Raducanu twice early in the second set to breeze into a 5-0 lead. She went on to win the set 6-1 and Raducanu left the court for a medical timeout with back struggles seemingly.
Raducanu returned to avoid the bagel but a tight third set saw Collins edge ahead for a 3-2 lad but she failed to consolidate that break. Raducanu broke straight back for 3-3. A third consecutive break in the set occurred but Collins dominated the Raducanu serve and she held serve to move 5-3 ahead.
She went one from victory completing it with a further break of Raducanu. But now her run has come to an end and now Collins moves on.
