Emma Raducanu easily disposes of late lucky loser replacement Jil Teichmann

Emma Raducanu is into the third round of the Rome Open after easily disposing of late lucky loser Jil Teichmann 6-2, 6-2.

Raducanu had to adapt to a new opponent late in the day when Ekaterina Alexandrova suddenly withdrew this morning.

Alexandrova is a tricky opponent on clay but is one that Raducanu has experience playing and has a win over her this year. So Teichmann who used to be a quality operator and lost narrowly in qualifying was perhaps a banana skin.

But it was one that Raducanu managed to navigate pretty comfortably. She now faces Veronika Kudermetova instead of a close friend in Amanda Anisimova. The American was defeated earlier today by the resurgent Russian.

It was a super solid game though from Raducanu who has never lacked the ability, it has been putting together a sustained run and she is doing just that.

Doubts from external people about her team have been evident but she has managed to dispel those despite Mark Petchey spending time in the commentary box over with her.

But the duel threat of him and Jane O’Donoughue is working and she keeps stacking up the wins in the Eternal City.
