Emma Raducanu’s stalker triggers Wimbledon alert: Banned man denied entry by security sistems

Wimbledon’s security system has detected Emma Raducanu’s stalker, who was trying to obtain tickets for the tournament. The man has a restraining order preventing him from attending WTA events after the harassment incident that left the former US Open champion in tears during the past Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.

Raducanu was playing her first-round match against Karolina Muchova when she spotted the stalker in the crowd. The Brit halted the match and asked the chair umpire to remove the man from the court, immediately triggering the WTA’s safety protocols.

The 22-year-old later reported that the man had harassed her during several trips. He approached Raducanu at a hotel — before her match — during a moment when she had gone out alone to eat. The man had attempted to contact Raducanu throughout the entire Middle East Swing, appearing in Singapore, Abu Dhabi, and Doha during that month.

The complaint filed with the police described the man’s behaviour as “fixated,” leading to his arrest and removal from the stands. Raducanu later addressed the situation during a press conference: “I saw him in the first game of the match and I was like, ‘I don't know how I'm going to finish.’ I literally couldn't see the ball through tears. I could barely breathe. I was like, ‘I need to just take a breather.’”

According to BBC Sport, the man attempted to secure Wimbledon tickets — with the tournament starting June 30 — but the All England Club’s security system flagged him and blocked his entry. Authorities have assigned a large security detail to protect players, with an estimated 1,000 personnel working on safety throughout the event.
