The Iasi Open is a leading tournament in the week that follows Wimbledon between July 14-20, 2025. Held on the outdoor clay courts in Romania, it sees 32 singles players compete for 250 points at Baza Sportiva Circ.
The first WTA edition of the tournament saw Mirra Andreeva become singles champion. Albeit she won't return this year and the field is a lot more slimmer in comparison.
Alycia Parks leads the way in terms of rank alongside Elina Avanesyan. Both are marginally inside the top 50. Jaqueline Cristian is one of the leading lights from back in Romania.
But the star power also comes from Maria Sakkari who is now ranked World No.86 and will return to clay after a poor loss at Wimbledon to Elena Rybakina. Lucia Bronzetti, Ann Li, Anastsija Sevastova among others are also involved.
Many have not entered in the week after Wimbledon with the want by many to play at Washington or onto Canada in the coming weeks. That begins the US hard court swing.
So a week or two back on clay isn't exactly the tonic when it comes to the top names. So Andreeva who at the time could enter not as a top 10 player can't return. While others aren't in the need to get time on clay ahead of an Olympics like last year.
